Dusted off my photography skills!

I recently was gifted a brand new camera and additional lens from my parents! My mom completely blindsided me with this gift and I was excited to start putting it to good use. I’ve been a camera geek off and on and sold my last camera I had about two years ago.

I first got into “professional” photography when I worked at the Hilton as a tourist/luau photographer and my job was to sell photos to guests in order to receive my commission. We’d also do sunset portraits, family photography (my fav), surprise engagements and pregnancy announcements. It was such a fun time and I don’t regret working there because I’ve had some of my best memories there with amazing people.

I’ve only owned DSLR cameras because that’s what I first learned on and I sold my old one because I was looking into getting a mirrorless camera instead. Something smaller and easier to lug around. The camera my mom surprised me with is a Sony. I’ve used it a few times for fun but was given the opportunity to capture a couple for their anniversary coming up. It was my sister and my brother in law. These pictures came out so good. We took inspiration from Pinterest and had a specific vision in mind. I think we nailed it!

Using my parents old school Ford, we were able to achieve a laid back “old school love” kinda vibe! Tell me what you think! This is definitely just a hobby of mine and never something that I’d take up commissions for. However, if the opportunity ever presented itself, I’d probably only do it if it was in alignment. For now, enjoy a few of my favorite captures!
